Eurostar – jolly nice but a missed opportunity

Perhaps one of Mrs Thatcher’s most unexpected legacies was the Channel Tunnel, connecting Britain with France by rail. Not only did it seem to belie her Euroscepticism, but she was known to dislike the railways and only travelled on them a couple of times during her premiership.
